Summary

A collection of comics with a millennial take on marriage, adulthood, pet ownership, self-love, and self-care。

Finally, comics that answer life’s most pressing questions: Is my partner actually upset or just hangry? Whose turn is it to remember the reusable shopping bags? Is it appropriate to put up Halloween décor two months in advance? (Spoiler alert: Yes。 Yes, it is。)

“Opposites attract” has never rung truer when it comes to vivacious extrovert Meg and her level-headed introvert husband, Carson。 Carson makes his coffee with only the finest locally roasted beans; Meg microwaves two-day-old joe。 Carson is reserved and rarely opens up to friends; Meg ensures everyone in her life—including her mailman—knows about her hemorrhoid。 From the joys of marrying your best friend to the bizarre musings of a twelve-pound pup to the humor and heartbreak of anxiety, Meg’s all-too-relatable comics leave no stone unturned。 Dorky and downright hilarious, Why Are You Like This? explores what it means to make fun of oneself and find laughter in the little things。

On top of that the artwork is so cute and so realistic。 Meg isn’t portraying your perfect blemish free protagonist and instead gives us a gorgeous girl who is comfortable enough to leave all her lumps, bump and whatever else hang out while making the ugliest faces she can pull。 Also can we just have a moment to squeal at how cute those dogs are!!Dr Seuss once said "We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love" and I think that beautiful little quote sums up the essence of this gorgeous comic collection perfectly! Why Are You Like This is published today by Andrews McMeel Publishing and I would urge you to pick it up if you want a fun little self-deprecating giggle。 。。。more

This is one of those books that deserve to be kept on a coffee table to be reviewed over and over again。 This book is perfect for a 5min break - just open up a page, read it through in 10 seconds, and think about it for a moment。Comics are very short and easy to catch the idea。 The best part is how honest each page is and how easy it is to relate to the author。 Besides, there is nothing better than a good laugh about oneself。However, be aware - even though it feels light and funny, drawings repr This is one of those books that deserve to be kept on a coffee table to be reviewed over and over again。 This book is perfect for a 5min break - just open up a page, read it through in 10 seconds, and think about it for a moment。Comics are very short and easy to catch the idea。 The best part is how honest each page is and how easy it is to relate to the author。 Besides, there is nothing better than a good laugh about oneself。However, be aware - even though it feels light and funny, drawings represent a variety of heavy topics that should be taken seriously, like body awareness, anxiety, and daily struggle。 Thanks to Netgalley, the author and publisher for providing an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review! 。。。more

Meg's views on life are guaranteed to overlap with everyone's thinking in at least a few of her comics。 She's so honest and relatable and has made an instant fan out of me! All of the comics are short and straight to the point and they're all hilarious (even if you don't think the same way!)。She has a simple art style which just adds more depth to her comics。 A really great read! I have loved Meg Adams and her strips since they first crossed my Facebook or Twitter feeds。 They're probably the most relatable comic strips specifically the ones about being pale and hating the sun。 This was a cute collection。 I've seen a couple including already but there were definitely some I hadn't seen before。 I have loved Meg Adams and her strips since they first crossed my Facebook or Twitter feeds。 They're probably the most relatable comic strips specifically the ones about being pale and hating the sun。 This was a cute collection。 I've seen a couple including already but there were definitely some I hadn't seen before。 。。。more

For all the trouble I had downloading this, I was hoping for more than I actually got。 Is is cute and funny? Yes, in parts。 Is it for everyone? Nope。 There was a lot more "adult" humor than I was expecting [not that that is a problem - the characters are partners and they show that, but I was expecting something different and was more surprised than anything {I certainly wasn't offended, just surprised}, but I can see how some people would be bothered by some of the "humor" shown]。 There are als For all the trouble I had downloading this, I was hoping for more than I actually got。 Is is cute and funny? First of all, a confession: I have always referred to Meg Adams by her online name, @Artbymoga, and it feels weird to change to her real name for this review。 I promise I will try my best。Second of all, this may sound strange but… is Meg Adams… me? Am I Meg Adams? Wait, hear me out, let’s compare for a second: We are both overthinkers; a ceramic Halloween pumpkin is staring right at me while I write this; I am also part of the group that is lactose intolerant but decides how to face each battle depending on hunger, plans or whether I will be able to rest the next morning; my boyfriend cannot physically stop himself when he is telling one bad joke after the other, …Nah, I am just kidding, I know I am not Meg Adams because I hate Christmas carols all year round and not only after hearing them non-stop during Christmas season, and I have two cats instead of two dogs。 But she is so relatable! I was nodding after each strip, saying ‘that is me’ with a laugh when things were funny, mumbling ‘that is me’ with sorrow when she started throwing truth bomb after truth bomb to my face。 I am that little child I would not hurt, my self-care should be what I need and not what I want; I act different in the cases I was the one who made the mistake versus if it was someone else。 The eternal cycle of New Year’s resolution hit especially hard because of the proximity of the date。 I could go on and on, but I don’t want to describe each and every single strip in this amazing collection。 The art is adorable, by the way, with very exaggerated face expressions and the cuddliest dogs ever, but I think it is superb when she puts little details here and there, like the stretch marks or the chaffing in her thigs。 A funny, intelligent, relatable collection of strips with the perfect mix of depth and heart; that is how I would describe Why are You Like this? by Meg Adams。 I hope she never stops sharing her story with us readers。 。。。more

An absolutely delightful book。 For those who know of Adam’s comics, this is a lovely collection of comics in physical form, something many fans of online comics can love and look forward to owning。 For those new to her, Why Are You Like This? is still an enjoyable collection filled with relatable humor that is both clever and funny without being dark or degrading。 While some subjects could easily fall into both categories, Adam’s lighthearted perspective is one the modern world needs。
